    Hello, Ever since gaming on steam I've had poor performance, Every few seconds(especially loading new areas) the game will be stuttering including audio ~ The normal 60+ fps will drop down to 0-10, then resume back to 60+. I've switched to ubuntu 13.10 while I try to minimize other potential issues while being on a different distro. Issue seems to be more prevalent in more demanding games

    What I do ->
    install ubuntu
    enable proprietary driver (updates) through software sources
    update && upgrade
    install steam, play a game such as TF2 or Metro Last light. (or any source game...)

    Ubuntu 13.10 x64
    8gb ram
    FX-8120 @ 4ghz
    Radeon 7950 @ 1100,1500

    Side note, downloading drivers from ATI website seem to make no difference

    Thanks for help

    I've been thinking of dumping Pulse Audio and Alsa for OSS4. [1][2]

    That may be the ticket, but the path doesn't look rosy.
    Is it a plane? A bird? No it's Mrk with a tutorial for us! :)
