    so far they have found sites using exploits for IE that are not known to the public and MS was able to see how others stated to use the same exploit. they also found search engines and freeware using rootkits. the bad sites they find are being blocked by MSN search but they are keeping the sites to themselves and not telling other companies like google.

    I'll bet the bad sites (not shared) make it into MVPS's host file!

    you are probably correct; MS used hosts files they downloaded from the internet to get the bad sites.
