Strange characters in text?

    could just be a problem with some default font not being there. It's happened to me more than once when I was trying to move fonts around. What happens in this situation [windows not having its pet fonts] is that it will "try to find the best substitute". Let me tell you - It doesn't try very hard!

    You'll mostly know if this is the case because the same things will be effected that use a particular font. Say, if "Impact" is missing, your start menu will look like alphabet soup.

    I'm not sure the easiest way, but I know (from experience) that you can googel a way to restore the default fonts.
