I don't know where to post it Windows10-20H2 64bit. Just upgraded yesterday from 2004. For the first time I looked at something called Storage. I got an amazing result. Windows10 partition is 78GB, yet Storage claims that it is 131GB and that the used space is 95GB. Now, HOW is that possible? I gather that this is a new place to do disk cleanup. Don't know how. And how can I trust it?
act8192, Storage space reports your 78.4 GB partition as 131 GB. In two of my computers... Storage space reports a 68.3 GB Win10 partition as 108 GB. Storage space reports a 38.8 GB Win10 partition as 145 GB. It's a bug.
I believe M$ refers to items like this as features. It is only when they receive 100 million complaints that it'll be referred to as a bug. As far as I remember this has been policy for 20+ years.
Do you have Reserved Storage? https://www.ghacks.net/2020/03/12/windows-10-version-2004-better-reserved-storage-management/ It's potentially dangerous. The Reserved Storage doesn't show when you are offline. So if you resize the partition "into the Reserved Space", Win10 will never boot again. I used... DISM.exe /Online /Set-ReservedStorageState /Stateisabled This gives you an extra 7 GB of Free Space in the OS partition.
you should put that in code tags, else wilders' system transforms Code: :D into So the command is Code: DISM.exe /Online /Set-ReservedStorageState /State:Disabled
I don't think so. Too afraid to mess with it. Getting state says: Is there anything I MUST do? I doubt it really. Just live with the bug/feature.
