Status bar? What is this?

I have this bar that's on top of everything on my screen. Can't close it, can't minimize it, can't do anything. It's just there.

How can I get rid of this thing anyways?

Perhaps ESET Smart Security v5's configuration is corrupt?

You might want to try downloading the latest version, uninstalling the currently-installed version, performing a manual uninstall using the ESET Uninstaller tool, and then installing the latest version of ESET Smart Security v5 that you downloaded.

Ok thanks. What does that bar normally do when it's working? Or is it supposed to be there in the first place? Because I installed ESET SS5 on my laptop and I don't have that bar, I just have it on my workstation.

It is the titlebar of a popup window seen when clicking on the ESET icon in the system tray notification area. It has several popular options related to using the software on it (scan drives, open the main application window, version information, and so forth).
