Starforce copy protection

Hi folks. I recently bought 2 games: X2 The Threat and X3 Reunion, I haven't installed them yet and just wondered how the Starforce protection removal patch issued by Egosoft can help? Surely the game has to be installed, Starforce drivers and all before the patch can be applied, something I wish to avoid as according to many people it can allegedly cause problems. Please could anyone with knowledge of this subject help. Thankyou.

 

Starforce causes problems only over a period of time and not immediately. If you keep the patch downloaded and use it as soon as you finish installing the game, then you should come to no harm with Starforce.

Just in case, I also recommend running the Starforce removal tool after installing the patch from Egosoft (it will clear up any crap files left behind). Get it from the below link:
