    Hi TH,

Just curious, where did you get HyperBoot?

I googled and saw lots of reviews, etc. but nowhere to buy or download a trial, etc.

Or would I have to buy the full Diskeeper 12?

Yes Diskeeper 2012 Pro but I would wait till the 2013 version comes out but you can give the 2012 a trial run. This is the version I'm using http://www.condusiv.com/business/diskeeper/professional/ also see here in post 16 https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2257812&postcount=16

    Dear Brain,

For $15 ~ $25, why don't you have the 1TB HD permanently available in the internal DVD bay. The DVD is obsolete and no longer required. This way the laptop functions as fully functional laptop without having to lug the extra external USB3/eSATA enclosure everywhere.

They is how I have in most of my laptops, unless my laptop has two HDD bays.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Mohamed,

I didn't know that could be done. Do you have a photo of what the laptop looks like with the HD installed in the DVD bay? What a great idea!

    Hi Brian,

    Do a search on eBay.com

The cheap ones are for $15 ~ $25, depending on the sellers. The exactly tailored to your laptop with a tailored looking outside bezel cost about $50.

I will go for the cheap one. The only difference between the cheap ones and the expansive one is the tailored made bezel. I paid $12 for mine, and they look good.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

I find this exciting. After installing both drives I'd clone the OS from the original HD to the SSD and delete the OS from the original HD. A ten minute job and you are ready to run with the OS on the SSD and plenty of storage space.

    Hi ZeroDay,

All brands are very good these days. I have about six of them and they are all different brands. Go for the cheapest one.

Also, if you plan to keep only your OS on the SSD, and if only one OS or two, then 120GB is sufficient. This is the cheapest way to go. These days you pay only $80 for 120GB.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

The first link you posted is for SATA 3 and the second link is for SATA 2. If you computer has SATA 3 then go for SATA 3, but the cheapest one. If you computer doesn't have SATA 3, then go for the cheapest SATA 2.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    ZeroDay,

The Samsung 840 has a good reputation. Pro or Standard. I have two Intel 520 Series but I'd be happy with the Samsung.

Mohamed might like to comment. He has quite a range.

Edit... I just saw Mohamed's posts.
This computer has a 240 GB SSD with 12 OS on it and it's just over half full. The 120 GB SSD is in my son's computer and it benchmarks somewhat slower than the 240 GB but practically I can't tell the difference.

Thanks for the info Mohamed, I will indeed look for the cheapest 120gb. It's only going to have to hold Windows 8 and Linux Mint, I'll store everything else on my harddrive.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Roger,

Kingston has been in memory business for ages, and they make one of the best SSDs. SSDs are nothing but memory and controllers.

And, the link for the above SSD you posted is for SATA 3. I have Kingston SATA 2 and very happy with it.

    Go for it.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Sorry for the late reply but I don't know as it's getting pretty late in the year maybe they will come out with a 2014 product? :doubt:

I've seen a couple defraggers review/comparison and Diskeeper is just pure hype. It offers almost no benefit at all based on the reviews i've seen. :)
