Spywareblaster - Global Hook

HELP !

I posted this a few days ago, but although over 100 have read it, nobody has replied.

SB keeps demanding a global hook to Microsoft file MSVBVM60.DLL.
It is very persistent.

I am blocking this at present, I do not accept global hooks unless I know why they are needed. Neither Spyware Terminator, Comodo Pro, Spybot or AVG have requested a global hook - so why should SB need one ?

1) Why does SB need a global hook to this file ?
2) Is SB performance reduced by blocking this request ?

Anybody please ? Give me a clue and I`ll be happy.
