    SpywareBlaster 4.0 has been released!

Prevent the installation of spyware and other potentially unwanted software!

    New in this version:
    -Full Vista support
    -Protection for Netscape
    -Protection for Seamonkey
    -Protection for Flock
    -A brand-new user interface
    -Various feature and protection enhancements
-Further optimizations to every part of the program
-And lots of other bug fixes and requested tweaks

This 4.0 release provides enhanced protection, performance, and bug fixes.

    UPDATING OPTIONS IN SPYWAREBLASTER
SpywareBlaster still offers the built-in Check for Updates feature. This feature is completely free and allows you to keep up-to-date by clicking on a button in the SpywareBlaster interface.

SpywareBlaster also offers SpywareBlaster AutoUpdate - a brand-new updating solution. Just set it up, and AutoUpdate will check at every system boot for the latest updates and enable the newest protection (other options are available).

As much as we would like to provide auto-updating functionality for free, costs are simply too great to make it feasible. AutoUpdate functionality is $9.95 (US) per year, which helps to cover the bandwidth costs. The Check for Updates function remains completely free, as does SpywareBlaster. You only need to pay if you wish to have the extra convenience of AutoUpdate.

    SpywareBlaster is freeware.
    Download the latest version here:

    Enjoy! :D

    Best regards,

    Requirements:

    Windows 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista.

Provides Protection for the Following Browsers:
    • Internet Explorer
and any browsers that use the Internet Explorer engine, including:
      • AOL web browser
      • Avant Browser
      • Slim Browser
      • Maxthon (formerly MyIE2)
      • and more
    • Mozilla Firefox
    • Netscape
    • Seamonkey
    • Flock

    Slim Operation:

As always, SpywareBlaster doesn't use any services, drivers, or anything that constantly runs in the background, consuming your computer's memory and processing time. You just open SpywareBlaster, set your protection, and close it - you're protected.

And it works great with other reputable security and privacy applications, including anti-virus, anti-trojan, and even other anti-spyware programs. There's no such thing as a 100% effective solution, and SpywareBlaster was designed from day one to be a compatible, effective part of any security setup you may want to configure.

What is the best process for changing from version 3.5 to 4.0? Can I install over the top or do I need to uninstall the old version first? If I can install over the top do i need to disable protections in the old version first? o_O

    Hi,

While either method should work (an "over-the-top" install or a clean install), we recommend using a clean install to upgrade to the 4.0 release.

    Clean Install Instructions:

    1. Open SpywareBlaster and press the "Disable All Protection" link under "Quick Tasks".
    2. Close SpywareBlaster.
    3. Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the entry named "SpywareBlaster v3.5.1"
    4. Download the latest SpywareBlaster installer from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html
    5. Install the new version, and enjoy!

    Best regards,

    Hi,

The current installer does not - but there is the possibility of an MSI-based installer in the future that will (or some other accommodation for advanced users that wish to push SpywareBlaster out to many PCs). :)

I should also note that SpywareBlaster Network Version is available for businesses and network administrators who wish to have centrally-managed, global network configuration of SpywareBlaster's protection for all of their PCs.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

SpywareBlaster does not offer protection for Opera at this time. Since Opera does not support ActiveX, malware isn't as big an issue with the Opera browser.

Many other programs use Internet Explorer as a default browser, or use the Internet Explorer engine to display their interface or content. So even if your browser is not listed above (e.g. Opera), SpywareBlaster will protect you in many other cases. :)

    Best regards,

Hi I updated to the new version today, but the link takes me to ver. 3.5.1 and not 4. When I now try to update, it tells me there is a new versoin and the link again takes me to ver 3.5.1. Help

a nice new interface,But still every time i reboot there are twelve unprotected items. It has been that way every since i installed spy ware doctor . really hoped the new version would have fixed that, but since it didn't need too know if the items that aren't protected are still safe,or do i need too keep doing the protection enable every time i reboot.:(

Supposedly PC Tools is going to resolve this long standing issue so let's hope they actually do and in a timely fashion,

Excited to see new release version. Nice touch to provide advice re: full install, and after uninstalling my old version, proceeded to majorgeeks.com for the download. A little dismayed that my current mcafee flashed the 'trojan detected and quarantined' message as soon as I got to that page..... will install the saved file and see how it goes...

I have installed version 4 on two computers. One turned up with protection for Sea Monkey and the other did not.

I do not have Sea Monkey on either computer. Wondering why the installations turned out differently.

I am using the most recent Fire Fox and Windows XP Pro.
