    I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT!!!!

I had the same 'giggling' problem and it drove me nuts. Had specialists look at my laptop and they couldnt figure it - nor could any of my anti-virus/spyware etc.

It is a setting on AOL Buddy List. You can adopt the laughing sound so that everytime you go online AOL giggles on your buddys computer.

So...go into buddy settings and disable sounds.

It works and after 6 months of being driven mad I am now no longer INSANE.

Funny. If some inexplicable behavior is noticed I'll typically stop all unnecessary services and then deduce/go from there. For the really tough built-up grime sometimes your Best Friend is to ZERO THE ENTIRE HDD AND START FROM SCRATCH (fdisk/format). I always feel refreshed and spiffy after wiping out all the polluted garbage that I know all my anti-spyware, anti-virus, anti-establishment/paranoia is supposed to protect me from.

I agree with you, zero my entire HDD and start from scratch is OK as long I have to do it only ONE time.

    In the future, I will
    - zero my harddisk
    - install winXPproSP2
    - install my softwares
    - add my personal settings for each software.
    - do an image backup of my whole system partition on an external harddisk.
    All that OFF-LINE, modem OFF.

If I ever get in SERIOUS trouble, I will
    - zero my harddisk
    - RESTORE the image backup, I created above.

I wouldn't like it, when I have to re-install my harddisk from scratch over and over again. Too much work and I'm too lazy. :D

I have the same thing. I use Yahoo mail and a worm found a hole there and if lyou use it or received a message from yahoo mail you probably got it. Mine makes a noise like a tiger, laughs the evil laugh and slams doors and really makes an very loud evil noise when I fail to download an online virus checker and then chuckles, of course I cannot. It will send emails to people on your yahoo mail address list. I think it is called the yamanner worm and no idea how to get it off.
