I do not want to run an AS app in realtime, but do not want to get lax in running on demand scans. Is there a way to set up a batch file to open and run a scan with one or both of these apps?

Don't know about a batch file, haven't had the need for it, as both ST and AVG AS have the ability to scan a file via the context menu (right click> scan with...)
    Asquared also does this.
I have all 3, ST in realtime.
    Hope this helps.
