I was using spyware guard program with Windows XP to keep stuff from changing my browser homepage and adding spyware.

Now, I installed SP2 and I'm wondering if I still need to keep Spyware Guard installed. Is this still necessary?

I personally believe that keeping spyware guard will enhance your security. I have sp2 and still run spyware guard. sp2 was a big update but it surely didn't fix everything. All of the security apps that I was running with sp1 I am still running with sp2 plus one or two more.

With all the other protection like SpywareBlaster, Prevx, Ad-Aware, SpyBot S&D etc I really do not think it is necessary anymore. Ask yourself this, when is the last time SpywareGuard warned me of anything? Anything other than you changing your homepage that is.

Prevx does block a lot of the points spyware uses to hijack or install without your knowing, but it won't give you the alert saying "hey, you're about to install something that looks like spyware" that SpywareGuard will.

You don't have to be paranoid to retain it. Its just a small app that sits in a corner, as unobtrusive and efficient as spoofstick...

I believe that SpywareGuard will go a very long way in protecting your computer from spyware.

hi i run adaware an spybot, by using firefox it is an extreme rarity that i get any spyware, i clean my cookies regularly and only use iexplorer for stuff firefox cant do.

in my opinion there is conjecture as to how legitimate the other anti spyware programs are, currently alot of them are being sued by lavasoft[adaware] and spybot for selling hacked versions of the above mentioned.
