    Some questions:
    - did you make clean installation?
    - have you lose old rules and settings and make it as new?
    - have you imported rules from saved file?
    - do you have separate app (maybe in sys-tray) to manage wifi connections?
    - did you detected internet zone (firewall module)
    - have you some " block" rules connected to "firewall" on list of monitored action?

Free version is obsolete but you can get last vesrion 10.9.7 from Polish page

I've asked because there is a lot of factors that can effect to such issue. It would be better to do clean install - RC version have some new drivers (don't ask me which - I don't know :)) - and have saved/exported rules...it's less work to do :) If you have some problem with RC just go back to stable 11.3 and easy wait for the next release :)

So you got lifetime licenses for free? But I thought you wanted to limit the amount of security tools that you were using, so what's your setup now? Actually, I'm still into HIPS but I would like to get less alerts, so that's why I'm disappointed there is no auto-blocking option and there is no way to configure the white-list for the Auto-Allow mode. The firewall also can't auto-block and there is no easy way to see which apps are allowed or blocked from making outbound connections, so that's why I'm using Win Firewall Control.

No, Just one year licenses. I'm using Ask User Mode in SpS-FW, so I got outbound
    Alerts like WFC.

Do by using SpS, I removed WFC and HMPA, one less app.

My setup is in my sig.

Doesn't the premium version revert to free after the 14 day trial?

On the download page (bold theirs):
Expanding "What are the differences between SpyShelter Free Anti-Keylogger and paid versions?" there's a list of disabled features.

That pretty much wraps up the Free Anti-Keylogger v10.9.7, available for a short while last January, that I've been running since then. It still provides a boatload of effective protection one of which is for the clipboard; I copy/paste login creds from my password manager to the browser.

If no revert to free, what does happen on day 15??

Anyhow, I searched this thread for "discount" and "renewal" with no results. Maybe some one can shed some light on this for me:

In August I sent an email to them inquiring if a renewal discount is offered. I don't think I've ever run any non-lifetime paid application where a percentage discount (or lower price) renewal wasn't offered, even those "until next version" licenses. Some pretty generous.

I got, "A customer support staff member has replied. We can't predict next year prices."

So, you long time users... Did you get some sort of discount to renew your license as it approached time out?

    Thanks!

Full version stops working without entering valid key number.

"SpyShelter Firewall does the job it promises to, keeping your data safe from keyloggers. The question is, do you actually need that job done?"
The firewall uses WFP, not much security here (do you trust MS?).
Gave it a trial, not inpressed.
Don't want to give up my cheese-burger a month.

5 years ago - today, still garbage. My review.

    Key-logger, what a joke.

I tried it with this https://www.techworld.com/download/security/anti-keylogger-tester-30-3331142/ program and I could still see what was typed with GetKeyboardState , keystrokes encryption was turned on and the hips module was activated for keyboard logging actions. On top of that, its firewall and anti-exe modules are nothing special, and the HIPS module that alerts for stuff like installing drivers or reading memory of another process etc. is not really helpful as there are waaaaay too many "actions" that a malware can do, not just a few dozen ones that are covered in the HIPS module

Overall, spyshelter is not worth using (and the interface is very clunky, I personally dislike GUIs but if I have to use one, I'd rather it be as close to a shell as possible, like NVT ERP's interface)

Completely shuts down then; no limited operation. Thanks.

So, almost two and half years since dropping it,
    https://www.spyshelter.com/spyshelter-free-anti-keylogger/
that "What are the differences between SpyShelter Free Anti-Keylogger and paid versions?" persists and peppers the FAQs as well.

    Sad.

unfortunately for you, we ( my Q&A colleague and i ) did your test (and the others), and:

1- keystrokes are not detected or intercepted by the ATK utility, marker is green.
2- SpS overwrites/encrypt the keystrokes so they are not decipherable ; nothing appears in the utility windows or at best you have some little squares
3- with the screenshot test , the utility just record a blank picture.

to let the ATK record my keystrokes, i have to disable the anti-logger protection in SpS main window (the one with radio buttons)

if you use the LowLevel hook, Direct X test:
1-keystrokes are intercepted, marker is red.
2- but my keystrokes appears encrypted in the ATK window.

Even if you disable SpS protections, the antilogging protection is still working.
The only difference is that SpS encrypts the keystrokes and the ones that are captured display as random numbers. You have to uninstall SpS to completely disable keystroke protections.

few dozens? SpS record 66 possible actions. They are indicated in the settings.

Malware doesn't do thousands of actions, they all start mostly the same way via an entry points using a file or a script. It is why default-deny operate mostly the same way, only HIPS monitors more actions than anti-exe.
if you want full check of every single processes, don't use HIPS/anti-exe, use an AV.

really, the GUI is important for you?

    so to me either:
1- you didn't do the test properly.
2- you don't know (yet) how to use SpS, which is understandable, or you did not use it long enough.

It was only GetKeyboardState I think that was able to monitor keystrokes, the other ones either couldn't like you say or I was asked to allow the application to monitor keystrokes by the HIPS module, also I was asked about the screenshots to either allow or deny them like you said, in this regard it's doing a decent job, it was only GetKeyboardState that AKLT was still showing pressed keys. Ofc there surely are more ways to monitor keystrokes than those few, AKLT is just an example

There wasn't anything in the anti-exe module that NVT ERP doesn't already do (I think there was isolated / restricted applications list? Or maybe that was Rehips, I don't remember, I tested both at around the same time). Same for firewall module

I don't really like the HIPS component, both for spyshelter and Rehips, it's kinda like an AV, at least the concept, where it follows every single action (or at least those that are monitored) that your processes do, and for every one of those actions you get asked, and you have to allow all your processes for all the actions they do, but here's the thing, if it's a legit process (or you think it's legit but it's not), you're gonna allow all the HIPS actions anyway, other than maybe keylogging or idk what the other ones were that would be bad to allow. There is a case though, say you think something is legit and you let it run, and then the HIPS alerts you that it's trying to do something completely unrelated to what its purpose is, that would be a dead giveaway and something that an anti-exe would miss (well, not the anti-exe, it was you who allowed it) but other than that, I can't think of something else that a HIPS would be useful for when compared to an anti-exe. And once again, if you don't fully trust something, you should just sandbox it or quickly open a VM and run it there. Also HIPS takes more resources to monitor everything (like an AV) , anti-exe only monitors process launches. Also, 66 is not everything a malware can do, so if you think that just because a process isn't getting any prompts from the HIPS module (or it's only getting prompts relevant to what its purpose is) that means it's not malware, well you might be mislead by that because malware can still do bad stuff that the HIPS module doesn't cover (as there's only a limited number of stuff it monitors for). The only thing that covers everything a process can do, is blocking it. If you block it, it can't run, and that's what anti-exe does (or you sandbox it or run it in a VM, that also works)
