This is probably going to sound like a stupid question. But here goes, when i do an update on spybot, and it gives me a list of items. Should i be updating all the files or should i be looking for certain ones.

Also after a scan how do i know what i should and shouldnt delete from what is found.

    Yet another llama?..... :D

You should download all updates, except for the 1.0 Program Update, which is the one you're running already.

In fact, you can rightclick that one, and choose 'exclude'.

If all you're interested in is removing spyware, foistware, keyloggers, and the like, which is after all what really counts, go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and uncheck 'System Internals' and 'Tracks' .

You can always experiment with those later on.

You should now end up with a much smaller list of search results.

Have SB remove everything. It should be OK.

And besides, it does make backups of everything it removes.

:D A "llama" is the caption that goes with your pic in your profile. Go to your profile and update or change it. See mine? (It's on the list of stuff near the bottom of the page. The place setting caption is "I am a llama!" You still have it if you haven't changed it, nor put in a pic.) :D

Tony? You could become the new Dialup Llama! LOL! ;)

Phazor - Usually, I right-click on and exclude language updates. Since all I'm speaking/understanding is English, I don't really need them. I take ALL the other updates, though. HTH Pete

Yep, I forgot about the languages. Thanks!

About the program update though, I absentmindedly downloaded and installed it, restarted Spybot, and Spybot.exe was gone...

    I had to reinstall.

It also says somewhere that it's only for people running a version lower than 1.0, which stands to reason.

    Cheers, Tony
