Here, the uninstall left ghost services behind and quite a lot of registry entries...

not sure if it was an issue with it being a beta or not.

I haven't thought about Spybot SD for years!
It's still around and being developed? Good!
The link from J_L looks promising.
I just might have to check this out.

I tried it on a computer I'm setting up for a relative and the immunization kept hanging with 100% cpu utilization so I uninstalled it.

I installed on W7 64 bit and here's what I found so far.
It looks like there are 8 services installed with it.

The scanner was bit slow but not bad.Found 16 tracking items, no malware, that's what I expected. Scan took a few seconds over 25 minutes.

The Update worked well and was very quick.

Installed easily, no hiccups or problems.

*Browser integration. It did work with IE9 and Google Chrome.
On IE9 I had compatibility with one game site.
On Google Chrome I tested Spybot's browser protection on most of the sites I frequent. The browsing speed wasn't impacted much. No compatability issues at all.I was impressed with how well it works on Chrome. The icon offers a chance to look at the stats too.

The GUI. It's reminiscent of the way Spybot always has looked. Could it be flashier. Yes. But I'll take it the way it is.

On the control center to the bottom left corner is an area marked "online".
This is a cool feature where you can submit false positives, request additions, or consult a malware removal guide.

I didn't notice any system slowdown after installing Spybot on this system.

Overall it made a favorable first impression. Patrick has done a great job with this new version. It's worth keeping an eye on this program. And not just for "old time's sake." This program looks promising!!

Did anyone test the portable version (especially its Immunize)? I don't want something that runs real-time with 8 services.
