    alonewolf1,

The built-in shredder is gone. See this thread at the SpyBot forums for more info.

    Best wishes,
    VV

Hi, folks: D/l a new database today. Scotty alerts that host files are to be changed. I OK the change. Next reboot, I lose the Internet connection. Any one has similar problems ?

HI, FOLKS: I do not know, I am using IE7 and has deleted Spybot-S&D. The problems went away. What a pain on the neck; hoping another layer of protection, and end up with more worries, not worth it. Here goes to my blacklist again.

I honestly don't know why people are still enamored with Spybot. At best, the previous version had about 75,000 in its signature base. Even Adaware has over 112,000.

No, I think the previous post was discussing what happened when he downloaded some host files (Scotty, I think, refers to the animation in WinPatrol). After he executed the update, he lost the internet connection. His post was not a reply to yours, but was another problem report from the update to Spybot that he experienced. Unfortunately, in forum posting, the sequencing of messages do not necessarily address those immediately preceding them.

Maybe because it has been around since the days of Windows 95 and 98? PC users tend to be intractable with regards to security software. ;)
