I have the new version of SpyBlaster-version 3.2.

My question is, if I have any old spyware or adware on my computer, will it be removed now?

    Thanks

    TomK

Hello TomK, welcome to the forums :)

SpywareBlaster does NOT remove any spyware/adware.

It helps *prevent* infection in the first place.

It sets "killbits" in the Registry whereby any spyware/adware cannot then write to the registry thus preventing infection.

It does the following [from website]:
    # Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
    # Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
    # Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

It does NOT have to be running, once installed, all that is needed is to update it say once a week if there are any updates, it will install and add more protection.

To *remove* spyware/adware you do need a proper Scanning/cleaning utility like:

Spybot Search & Destroy [SSD] FREE: HERE

Ad-Aware 6.0 FREE also a PLUS & PRO verions [paid]:
    HERE

    or Webroot's SpySweeper [paid]

    HERE

    Cheers, TAS

It can stop some activex from running even when installed. extract from spyware blasters help (glossary):

..... and also to block many of them from running, if they are already installed.

    Mr Tassie's :
So Tassie, after these things are accomplished, does SpyBlaster essentially become a "Static" blocklist?(Until the next update of course).
