This version doesn't come up in a general search, without using "2.1". :cautious: But if you're OK with it, I'll link this other one in one of my posts over there. For the intended purposes, I don't think it matters as it was comparing the same browser, just with one extension off vs. on.

    All:

Although Speedometer 2.1 still completed all tests with my system's Firefox/Chrome-based browsers, Speedometer 3.0 seems to stall/freeze while displaying “44/670”. All my testing was performed on an Apple M1 Pro MacBookPro18,1 running macOS 14.1.1 Sonoma.

In my results, any/all of my browser's extensions were disabled.

Perhaps v3.0 is still in development.

Speedometer has long been Google’s preferred benchmark, previously noting how it’s the “most reflective of the real world” when comparing JavaScript performance.
    Speedometer 3.0 is now available.

And, I'll kick off the results...
My result was 358 on Linux Mint 21.3 running Vivaldi 6.6.3271.48 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit).

On Speedometer 3.0 test I get with Edge + AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x a score of 5.94.

    Firefox + uBlock Origin= 8.01.

It is interesting to consider that the JIT compiler especially in Chromium-based browsers consistently affects the performance of the test.
My Firefox was always faster than Edge.

    But now Edge is faster:

    Edge:

    Firefox:

I got this result in Edge with the small change listed in my security setup.:)

I have performed many Speedometer 3.0 tests with Edge +:

    • uBlock Origin Lite + Ping Blocker
    • AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x
    • uBlock Origin
although the relative score values may change over time the same pattern is always repeated.
The above written MV3 extensions make the browser faster than the MV2 extension.

uBlock Origin Lite seems to make browser faster than other adblockers.

I, too, ran Speedometer 3.0 tests with my late 2021 MacBook Pro running macOS 15.3.1 Sequoia and Firefox 135.0.1 in "Troubleshoot Mode = On".

Today, my Speedometer 3.0 result seemed unrealistic as it showed "Infinity". Later, with the FF Troubleshoot Mode = Off, my result was 11.0.

My other browsers, with their extensions turned on, varied between 12 and 20.

My Speedometer 3.0 test with the Tor Browser 14.0.6 did not seem to respond after selecting the "Start Test" button. But this probably to be expected.

Moments ago, the Mullvad Browser 14.0.5 scored "Infinity" with no active extensions. Again, this does not seem realistic.

    Am I missing something?

3.1 does not like Firefox based browsers. Edge is actually slower than before. Brave is really, really fast, not just based on the score. On version 3.0 LibreWolf reports Infinity, but it is sooo slow, TOR just stalls.

    My Edge is faster.
There are some MV3 adblock that can make the browser faster or slower.
    But you don't use extensions.

There is also a setting on the Security sub page that affects a lot in the test.
I wrote it down somewhere, maybe in the Edge thread....but I don't remember now.

As also observed by @TairikuOkami, using Tor v14.0.9 with the Speedometer 3.1 test never seems to get through the Tor network to begin. Through a Tor connection, the browserbench.org site does not respond. Through a conventional connection, browserbench.org (17.33.193.247) seems to be configured to not respond to a ping.

Yet, with the Tor associated Mullvad browser v14.0.9, a very slow Speedometer 3.1 result is achieved versus the “Infinity” result with the previous Speedometer 3.0.

As observed by @Sampei Nihira, results are the fastest with Microsoft Edge (Version 135.0.3179.73 (Official build) (arm64)).

An AzireVPN (Malwarebytes) based connection does not seem to curtail the Speedometer 3.1 test. Other VPNs were not tested.

Side note: A Speedometer 3.1 test does work (quite slowly) with a macOS-based Safari v18.4.

Have no run these tests in awhile. Wow, Edge is the slowest but all three of the browsers have extensions of some sort.

    MS Edge: 11.2
    Mozilla Firefox: 12.4
    Brave: 15.0

Do these tests even carry any weight?

If for Microsoft, Speedometer test is to be taken into consideration, even for me such a test is significant.
