Just redid my C drive, got SP3 (for good or ill), and was reinstalling "usual suspects" for apps; went great 'til getting to iTunes. This and that suddenly wouldn't install; "check that you have Admin. privileges," etc.

    -I am the Admin.
-I shut off security apps, etc., during iTunes installation.

Only thing I can remotely think of, that may suddenly be killing the iTunes installation process is:

    - something to do with SP3, perhaps or
    - possibly, Spybot, or Spywareblaster?

Think I ran into problem while back re Spywareblaster, and its killbit for some ActiveX file; not sure how far/wide and deep Spybot and Spywareblaster write their protections into a system so I can't address that with any real knowledge.

I do have (luckily) have cloned copy of C on another drive, from about two weeks ago via Casper 4.0. I suppose I could find all references in that copy/registry of C re Apple, iTunes, QT, and its Bonjour service and merge those into current C drive's reg., but I can see where that may lead to further woes if I miss something. And, I suppose at worst,
I could go on using other drive for music and so on, but... the fact this isn't working is a real fly in the ointment after redoing current C drive.

If anyone has ideas on how to solve this, I'd be most appreciative of any help on this. And it could be I missed the obvious, like, do I need Flash or similar applet for iTunes to install and/or work? I did get the most recent
ver. of Java, if that has any bearing on the matter.

Thanks, again, for any ideas about this.

As far as their respective ActiveX, Restricted Sites, Cookie protection temporarily disable Spywareblasters(SB) protection and Spybot's Immunization feature which is equivalent to SB's settings\registry location wise. That would eliminate those features causing the issue. I would also make sure Spybot's Resident TeaTimer is temporarily disabled, even tho I have not heard of it causing this issue but being somewhat behind on their program, their could be inteference.

Also, any "DropMyRights" or equivalent software installed ?

    Bubba;

Thanks for reply/info. Didn't work, however, and that's assuming I turned off all proper choices in Spybot and Spyware Blaster. And, no, I don't have DropMyRights or equivalent software installed.

    Thanks,

    SG1,

If you have a NVidia based graphic card, check for the latest driver. I was having odd problems with QuickTime, iTunes, and a Nikon program that relied on QT; problem went away with installation of latest NVidia graphic drivers. Just a guess.

    Re: SP3, and iTunes(?) UPDATE/RESOLUTION:

Found note by chance at iTunes forum; someone wrote to go to Programs/Apple Software Update, and oddly online method worked lickety split, installed AND worked. Not sure why offline method didn't work, however, as I don't offhand recall that it was a "must do online" approach only.

    Thanks again for ideas, help.
