    Just installed Vista and done all the updates.In control panel it just shows windows vista .How do i get SP1.

    Hello waters,
    type in "system" in to the search box on the start menu.
    does it say service pack 1 there?
    see my screenshot as an example.
    firstly you need to install the update which allows service pack 1 to show. this will normally appear on its own after you have done all the other updates. so keep running windows update. once that update is installed then close windows update, reopen windows update and click on check for updates. service pack 1 should then appear.
    there are manual installers for service pack 1 but they are quite large.
