Thanks for letting us know - appreciate the feedback. If you could point to an exact link so that it could be avoided by others.

Thanks, once again to those reporting those who are now leaving or have left SourceForge.

softpedia is one of the few left with a strict no-bundle dl policy.

Yiiikes! Im a late comer to this thread but I give a belated thanks. I knew about cnet but not Sourceforge.

First question to ask... do any of these 3rd party "offers" actually install by default or do they always give the option to opt out?

Second...Is there a way to tell where you downloaded programs from? I flush history on browser close. I can't remember when I last used Sourceforge. I wonder if PrivaZer might help out here.

At this time, it is unknown how many apps at SourceForge have non opt-out bundled software. Many are now using a direct author website download as
cited in this thread. Use those first at all costs if you can find them, if you cannot - ask within this thread.

A "PUP", or - or potentially unwanted program are categorised by Malwarebytes as follows:
    http://blog.malwarebytes.org/news/2013/07/malwarebytes-adopts-aggressive-pup-policy/

    https://helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/e...-are-they-threats-and-should-they-be-deleted-

Some AV Vendors describe these as potentially unwanted applications.

A handy tool (in addition to what your AV |AS vendors offers)
