Software Recommendations Help

And btw it was very good reading Root Thanks for getting my noggin thinking I would like to see if anyone can recommend some good free ware that might acommplish what root spoke of in his post.

All have at my disposal for now due to money being tight is a CD-RW and windows backup utility.
In time I will be able to purchase some good software to take these tasks on, such as imaging and backing up.
I used NERO for a while but like I said money is a issue and I did not like the ROXIO program.
