buy for 1 computer = so much, buy for 5 computers = some greater amount
what's going to prevent someone from buying a single user license and registering the software in 5 or more computers? that will work, won't it?

Very much depends. Some of the online activation setups key off the hardware and can tell the difference. The rest is up to your conscience.

There is so many "free" software (especially for internet security) out there, some of it as good if not better than the paid software.

On my main computer I usually put the paid and some free software, but on my other less demanding computers I just use the free software with no problems.

Most of the paid software will always connect to the company servers to check that it is a valid registration, once it's register properly it can't be installed on another computer.
