I have read several comments in posts about disabling Win XP's own CD writing software before, and have done this in Drive Properties' and got a good CD which restored an entire partition to my laptopimage.

I assume that Acronis found the installed burning software on my machine and used it?

Question is 'why cannot I simply use XP's native burning software.

P.S. having browsed forums before trying disk backup/restore I was not hopeful about it working first itme, but it all passed with flying colours - congrats acronis!!

    Hello dpollock,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please be aware that the reason why you should disable Windows CD writing feature in order to be able to create Acronis True Image Bootable Rescue CD is that Acronis True Image uses it's own CD recording module which sometimes conflicts with the above mentioned Windows CD recording feature.

Please also note that this problem is not typical and so most people are actually able to create Bootable Rescue CD without a problem. Please accept our apologies for the current inconvenience.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.
