    Hi ladies and gentlemen,
I just don't know to whom I should ask about www.soft32.com - a software library. My Acvira blocks this site saying that this site contains malware.
I know that Soft32 used to be a reliable source for downloads like Download.com or Softpedia. What happened? Will you , please, tell me. Is is an Avira bug or really something harmful on their site?

According to Web of Trust, soft32.com has generated recent unsavory comments.
Even McAfee's Site Advisor has given the site a question mark. Caveat Emptor.

Thank you for the reply, JRViejo. It's a shame that the site with good resume has degenerated so lowly....

Green WOT, amber Site Advisor and no notices from Avira.
I'm more concerned about the same protection programs giving different users different results.

For me: TRUTHFULNESS of Avira AntiVir = 100%.

For you: remove WOT & Site Advisor ... consequently.

Now: I go - SUN shines!

I apologize for wanting to leave, Hugger (& others ... ).

What comes to WOT/SA, how they work differs, which explains the difference. Depending on the number and quality of ratings given in WOT shadier sites can appear green or good sites can appear questionable (especially so when there are only few ratings).

I guess no system is ever perfect. :)

I couldn't agree with you more, lordpake. I uninstalled AVG"s LinkScanner because their results were also less than perfect, however, if WOT, SA or any other rating company starts posting a few negative comments about a site, one needs to go in with both eyes wide open and be aware that malicious content could be downloaded from that site. Discretion is the better part of valor!

Still Avira warns me about Soft32, which is malicious to Avira's opinion. But I can freely surf and open supages of Soft32: http://news.soft32.com/ and others.

Well clearly there is something there.

Educated guess is they have software in their library that includes adware/spyware, be they "sponsor applications" or such.

Just exercise caution there is my advice.

Let me explain what I meant.
Avira let's me in with out any warning.
WOT and SA give me no warning.
Others are apparently getting warnings from the above for the same site I can go to with out the warning.
Hence, different results for different users from the same programs = unreliable protection.
    Hugger not happy.

Last I knew, download.com can post files and remove them when reported as malware. In the meantime, it sends out thousands of downloads. This was spotted with SiteAdvisor. As for the other site, well, I have been doing this since 1997 and it takes hours, sometimes days to guarantee a file is clean and they post 30-50 files an hour. Dont see how unless its generic scanning. They also do not host many files, so how can you guarantee a malware free you link out to. Food for thought, though I am a bit biased. :)
