On Windows 10 workstation direct wired to router. Was searching for an obscure type of weatherstripping. Hours later, while my GF was playing a game on her Moto Android & briefly interrupted by an ad (which is normal) I happened to glance over and noticed that the same obscure weatherstrip part was displayed! How is this possible? Her smartphone & my desktop are not linked in any way, other than sharing the same router??
yes, they are linked. see, your w10 and her handy share the same ip thru your router. and google does search profiling thru ip addresses. so you get the same search recommendations, search past and ads on any device on that ip. and it doesn't matter if you're logged into your google account. scary, right?
Scary, yes. That an obscure web page I viewed should randomly show up on her phone w/o invoking any search!
nah, it doesn't work that way. say that you're doing a search for a pr0nstar on google on your pc. now, let's assume that her first name is rachel. now, if your gf starts typing in rac to search for "racoon" on google on her handy, then kaboom. google suggests "rachel" in autocomplete. you're busted. run as fast as you can. cause she's about to do you in.
I don't recall her doing any searches, perhaps some bizarre anomaly, nevertheless...very weird.. Rest assured, I do all my p0rn searches on alternative search engines! Thanks for the input. Cheers
she doesn't have to. now, if i'm not mistaken, she's an android user, right? helloooo? android>google. her moto's already logged into her google account. and you're sharing the same ip address thru your router. hence the same ad on your devices.
yeah, their "old" motto, as you noted. and they replaced it with "do the right thing". but right for whom?
