    Really this should be old news. Law enforcement has used this for years to prove photos and video (child porn for example) were taken by a camera owned by a defendant.

    According to the report, "more sophisticated cybercriminals can fake the pattern by analyzing images taken with a smartphone that victims post on unsecured websites."

    Which "ought" to render the evidence inadmissible in court. But forensics is so gung-ho these days, who cares.
