SINGAPORE : Singapore's students have emerged tops in an international Science and Mathematics study, beating other countries like Japan and the US. 49 countries participated in the tests and study conducted by the International Association for Evaluation of Educational Achievemnet based in Boston. The study noted Singapore's consistently good performance over the years. From the survey results, they said this could be due to the students' positive attitude towards their studies, access to educational resources and a conducive school environment. Some 12,000 Singaporean students from Primary Four and Secondary Two sat for the tests two years ago. This news comes as a Stanford University study found that students in US schools, which use Singapore Mathematics textbooks are getting better grades.
