    The 8/29/03 edition of Simtel's Newsletter contains the following blurb...
    ~~~~~~~~~
    I'm pretty cranky about anti-virus software. Some of them have gone from simple little programs to monsters that want to take over my computer and really seem to bog things down. To my surprise when I asked about I was told (I didn't figure this out on my own) that many of them are 16-bit programs. Xramp AV (http://www.simtel.net/pub/pd/68897.shtml) is a real 32-bit program and I was impressed that after installing I couldn't tell it was there other than by the icon in the system tray. No slow response on the computer, nothing balky, smooth as silk. Check it out if you're in the market.
    Does anyone have any info on this AV?
    aloha...........bellgamin
    P.S.- It may be interesting to read your ideas as to possible reasons WHY this AV is so non-balky, smooooth, & unobtrusive. :cool:
    Hi Bellgamin.
    Someone posted about this av program yesterday.
    That's the first that I have heard of Xramp.
    I haven't seen that particular program in any scanner tests.It would be interesting to see how it performs/performed on any tests.
    Uh-oh -- sorry folks. I missed that other post. Didn't look very hard because I thought I had a brand new newsletter from simtel.
    I apologize in sackcloth & ashes. :oops:
    Hey Bellgamin.
    You posted new info on a relatively unknown program. ;)
    Nothing wrong with that IMO.
    I don't have the courage to test it myself so I find that Simtel newsletter informational.Somebody likes the program.
