I have a laptop that you can put your sim card in and get on the internet. How easy is it for that to be tracked? Is it anymore more or less secure?

Internet is internet. I really don't expect it would make much difference. Assuming that it uses that sim to connect to cell towers it is probably easier to track. They'll know where you are everywhere you go with it.

If we separate between privacy and security, cell connections are generally more secure, AFAIK. Yes, your location will be known, but the data you send over a cell connection is less likely to be intercepted by common criminals.
