This is one of those *duh* questions, yet it's nagging me and I need to ask:
Once I have selected what to protect myself from (default is all) do I neeed to keep the software active in my system tray or can it be closed and it will contonue to work. I looked in the FAQ and couldn't find an answer there.
    As I said, it's a *duh* question

Bob, which program are you referring to? SWB or SWG?

Anyway, SWB only has to be run long enough to check for updates, Select All, Protect Against Checked Items and then you can close it down until the next update and still be protected (the kill bits are set regardless of whether the program's running or not).

SWG is almost the same - but it's seriously recommended that you do keep SWG running in SYSTRAY.
