It has not Auto Updated since 5/5/2006 and when I click Update Now (manual) I am told that 1.1523 is up to date. I find this a little hard to believe. Is something amiss?

It's funny how Kaspersky AV would give me updates every 3 hours while NOD32 seems to average "just" one a day. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with NOD - it just seems odd that these two antivirus companies can have such a disparate approach to updating their products.

OK, that's nice to know. But what if a virus or some other threat had been released on May 6 whilst my "up to date" signature database was only current to May 5? Doesn't that leave me and other customers exposed? Or does ESET routinely take Saturday & Sunday off?

Then a virus signature would have been released on May 6 and your Nod32 would have checked on the hour or when you next came online and grabbed the update as soon as it became available.

    Cheers :D

I very much doubt it. I would point you to this post.

    [MOVE] NOD32 [/MOVE]
    [MOVE] www.eset.com [/MOVE]

Maybe you don't know, but a huge majority of threats is added by AV companies after a longer time since they were spotted first. There are thousands of new threats created every day, but if you look at the lists of added signatures, they seldom exceed 1,000 per day.

Therefore, proactive protection is the way to go and it's the future of AVs that NOD32 can bring you right now.
