I am already running NOD32 V2.0 with Blackspears settings etc, also I've got ZA Pro, SuperAntispyware, Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard on my system. Do you think its worth for me to install another AV but one that's not real time protection eg BD Free edition or leave it.

I have noticed though BD Free Edition is not supported by Vista.

    Only NOD32 real-time, right?

Feel free to add as many on-demand scanners as you wan't, but I don't think you need any more that what you already have.
Maybe try CureIt as a second (or 5th) opinion every couple of months, or when an infection is found.

Well, install only an antivirus that does not offer a real-time module as BitDefender free edition does.
Any other 2nd AV may conflict with your current AV even if the real-time protection is disabled.

Yes try not to have more than 1 black list scanner on at the same time. Can cause conflicts and there are diminishing returns. Try virtualization software if you want more protection.

    Hi

I think you've got more than enough signature scanners.

If you want more protection consider behavioural blockers/policy sandbox/virtualisation.

Cureit is on demand. However it does not update itself. This means that everytime you want to scan, you need to download the newest exe file from the Dr Web website.

As said already, you've got enough protection. You reach a point where it's overkill. A second AV on demand isn't necessary. If at some unlikely point you think you might benefit from a scan with a different AV, you can always do one from a free AV. The only suggestion I have is to add Sandboxie and or Returnil.

    Hi

I think you can get rid of Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard.

IMO,You can add Sanboxie to your Eset and lose every thing Else in your sig and for good measures, throw In returnil or ShadowDefender.

if you really want a 2nd av scan you could always use one of the free online ones. that many of the AV providers out there offer for free.

have you seen the Eset forums lately....... there is many reason's why people stay with 2.7 and also why many are leaving it also.

beating 2.7 is a hard feat thou. 2.7 works very very well.

a lot of people are having 100% cpu lock up on boot to the point the computer is unusable for hours on end. others are having problems with BSOD's a lot have reverted to 2.7 but also a lot have left altogether. Unfortunately I may also be one as Im having problems with 100 cpu lock up and 3 months no fix.

so a lot of people are staying out of the 3.0 and sticking with the 2.0 or 2.7.

Here's my reason. I prefer having a sperate stand alone AV with a stand alone firewall i.e ZA Pro. So two seperate security programs, plus also got seperate AntiSpyware Security Software.

NOD32 V 3.0 may be a very good AV etc but on my personal opinon I think ZA Pro might be a better FW, well I could be wrong here.

On the other note I've got Blackspears settings on my V2, I dont think there is Blackspears settings for V3.0 as yet.

NOD32 + BitDefender Free seems a good combination. Just hope that some virus doesn't crash your NOD32 , and if it does, it gets detected by BitDefender.

    Hey Albinoni,
nod32 3.0 has two versions, antivirus only and secuirty suite. so you can download EAV(eset antivirus 3.0) and still keep your other layers.
    EAV3.0 blackspear settings here

Ohh honestly I never knew there was a V3.0 stand alone AV from NOD32 and always thought that V 3 was just purely a SS.

Can I do an upgrade or do I need to fully uninstall and re-install V2.

    Thanks

its best to do the following:
1.make sure you have your username and password at hand.
    2. download EAV3.0 from here
    3. uninstall nod32 2.7,reboot when it asks you to.
    4. install EAV3.0 and then follow the blackspeak settings guide (if you wish to)here
