For example the command fsutil volume dismount disables a volume so the programs do not have access on it. (there are also other dismount commands but I do not think that you are interested in them)

If a volume cannot be dismounted because some programs have access on that drive you will have to use a force dismount command. This causes that all open handles to this volume become invalid and can cause instability.

You cannot force dismount the system partition. The OS does not allow you because it will cause a BSOD.

Did you uninstalled before upgrading? You must first uninstall the previous version and then install the new one.

Yes, uninstalled plus reboot before new installation.

Differences between 248 and 246 version:

    Version 1.1.0.248 - April 15, 2008
Fix: Cannot eject removable media sometimes
Fix: Cannot enter shadow mode automatically (conflict with some antivirus softwares)

    Version 1.1.0.246 - April 10, 2008

Something is not compatible with the newer driver, diskpt.sys, of SD.

Did you had daemon tools or alcohol 120% installed? There was a conflict with the SPTD driver.
Have you tried the latest version 1.1.0.265?

No daemon tools and alcohol 120%, but have Nero 7 and DirectCD(Roxio).

Yes, I have tried 265 down to 248 versions. Only versions 246 and below have no popups. Thanks.

I would check with the security setup.

What programs antivirus, firewall, hips, antispyware, etc. you have installed? Try uninstalling the one by one and in the between steps install 256. When you find which is responsible you will be one step away from fixing it.

A quick question here, if i get a BSOD or crash while in shadow mode do i get any trouble booting or is it never a problem? Is the shadow mode unproblematic with this kind of things? Thx

Usually not a problem, just reboot to restore your system to the state when you just enter into shadowmode:p

    two simple questions:

1.What's the difference between the free version and the paid?

2.There's exclusion list when you exit shadow mode?I guess this function only belongs to the paid version?

    Thanks

It's something that only happens to me or it's just that ShadowDefender hangs up when you download files using P2P programs...I mean, when I use uTorrent its interface hangs up some time when I try to pause or stop a torrent.

Also I found that it also hangs up really hard when you try to burn a DVD at least with Imgburn...don't know why!!! Imgburn,MagicIso or another burning programs hang up and you cannot even start the burning and then you MUST restart your PC !!!!

Would somebody can explain it, or even test that this is just happening to me to exclude these issues as bugs.

    See ya! :D

    WARNING!

268 killed my system. Lots of ntfs.sys problems when installed. After uninstalling XP doesn't even load. Hello Blue Screen :D

Mmmm....how is that ? I had installed 268 on my system and it works and booted okay and normally.

Anyway, don't know what's new with version 268 and the guess is for other AV software compatibility issues.:)

    Hi,

268 is merely a internal testing beta, problems are not unexpected.

Awaiting its next official release . :)
