That's fine. Stick with what you are comfortable with.
Many SD users don't have the problems you are concerned with.
As with ALL softwares, you are bound to have some users that will have a problem in their configuration.:ninja:

Re: ShadowDefender 1.1.0.264 is now out !

i've never seen such problem in any version of SD
may be that user had a mis-understaning of something
some softwares don't complete their installation unless after reboot
    so
    if u installed this software
    then entered shadow mode
u did not give the software its logical chance to complete its full installation process
if u rebooted later in shadow mode---logically ,nothing is expected to happen (as if u never rebooted after installation coz u still in the shadow mode

    and remember ,
1-SD is the only ISR software that does not require reboot to enable protection , "unique feature"

2-moreover offers protection against the direct disk access malwares "alaways uptodate "on contrary to shadowuser"

3-protects other non system drives "on contrary to returnil"

4-allow exclusion functionality "on contrary to powershadow"

    5-supports vista

    6-exclusive light weight

The Problem described is applicable at any configuration, because it is SD who produces this problem. You can try it for your self.

The Progs i installed just before activating shadow mode do not require reboot. These progs are opera browser and team viewer.

Returnil has Session Manager, Power Shadow Master enters protection on-the-fly.

Nice feature but a good HIPS can suppliment that missing feature.

But NOT on the contrary to Power Shadow Master

    Difference is noted.

    Good for Vistaers surely

Something not so hard to impliment in most popular Virtual Systems

Looks like another useful protection app, ISR as opposed to a Virtual System i assume?

Re: ShadowDefender 1.1.0.264 is now out !

Been there and done it many times. Installed programs and enter into protection without reboot. After enabled protection and reboot, uninstall entries still showed in the Add/Remove under control panel as normal.
No problem exists like the one you posted.
Also not sure why you have those problems.*puppy*

That is exactly the problem in SD, it doesn't work properly and member "Alloucho" seems to be the first one, who noticed this problem. You better start testing this yourself to see if Alloucho is right.

    hi ErikAlbert
we already tested it hundreds of times
no such problems , at least for me and my friends
also i did not hear such problem b4 from any other user
by the way , have you "urself" encountered" such problem ??

a software bug can not be defined if it occurs only with one user alone
as the problem has not been confirmed by any other user yet

    and if i don't like hips o_O
so with SD i can get rid of it

    and if u like hips
u can have an exta protection with SD
U SHOULD NOT DEPEND ON ONE LAYER OF PROTECTION

Of course, and the same can be said for a number of different other solutions but i'll reserve the right of not bringing any up because the focus is SD.

Nothing wrong with additional layers, in fact i would go as far as mention it's almost a requirement unless a user would rather prefer to turn to his or hers image recovery app more often.

    hi easter
i like ur team of virtualizing softwares in ur signature
    PowerShadow
    SandboxIE
    FD-ISR
    DEEP FREEZE
    Returnil

and if u add SD to this this team even as the goal keeper
u may win the world cup :thumb:

I have no problem implimenting yet another asset to ensure total prevention against forced intrusions be they whatever.

I'll consider it after reading thru some users reviews and weigh the balance between them. LoL

SD is working fine according my tests and Alloucho is wrong, unless he can give me a test in step mode how he tested SD.

Installing software without reboot : Microsoft Baseline Security Advisor (MBSA) :
    Test-1
    - Normal Mode
    - Install MBSA
    - Enter Shadow Mode
    - Exit Shadow Mode when shutdown
    - Reboot
    - MBSA is installed

    Test-2
    - Normal Mode
    - Install MBSA
    - Enter Shadow Mode
    - Continue Shadow Mode after Reboot
    - Reboot
    - MBSA is installed

    Test-3
    - Normal Mode
    - Enter Shadow Mode
    - Exit Shadow Mode when shutdown
    - Install MBSA
    - Reboot
    - MBSA is removed COMPLETELY

    Test-4
    - Normal Mode
    - Enter Shadow Mode
    - Continue Shadow Mode after Reboot
    - Install MBSA
    - Reboot
    - MBSA is removed COMPLETELY

    I also tested software with reboot : Anti-Executable v2 (AEv2)
    - Shadow Mode
    - Install AEv2
    - Reboot by AEv2
    - AEv2 is gone, no further testing possible
This is of course a serious shortcoming in SD, but I already knew this and has nothing to do with Alloucho's statement.
So you have to find a solution to test reboot-softwares and get rid of it completely after testing.
You can test such software in Normal Mode of course, but then you have to do a classical uninstall and this creates garbage on your system.

I must be misunderstanding your point here. with Returnil free I am able to enable protection without a reboot. I have SD on one machine and like the product but it is not unique as far as not requiring a reboot. could you explain again ?

or you could just make a system image before trying the new software and restore after testing. takes just a few minutes. The classical uninstall is called classical for a reason :D

That is also a possibility, if users are willing to do this. VMware is also a possibility, but that's not the real issue.
The fact is that you can't do it with SD and that's a pity.
