I haven't heard from Greenborder since it was Google-ized. Good reviews, but they may have priced themselves out of the market.

Ah, both things i was not aware of. Thanks.

When I briefly used it, I only found it to be in the capacity as i had described (alerting of changes)...guess I didnt use it enough :p. Too bad its dead.

How would you rate ProcessGuard? It still hurts when I think about it.

Amerikans have sniffed just a hint of the worst security software ever and will soon see it blossom into a legend of monumentous proportions.

Ladies and gentleman...the software giant for 2008...

    :shifty: ESET Smart Security

    :ninja:

    What about PivX: still going?
    http://www.pivx.com/

There is a lot of enterprise level sec apps and Firewalls and web security apps that 'home' users never see...obviously most vendors want the big sponduliks.

    Shame about ViGuard: so close..

    Will SpyBot survive ??

    Sygate...

BOClean not what it was, support wise at least

I wager that some of the -ahem- senior members here could recall many many apps that have faded away as circumstances changed

AS Good as they are how will ProSecurity, GesWall and even tools like Sandboxie or DefenceWall ( long may they all live & prosper) survive in the face of corporate behemoths ?? At least to this point knowing about these apps and using them gives us a big head start. Maybe uncle bill or Sergey and Brin or Peter's descendants will come calling with the big $$: have to be tempting.

At least OA has been getting some high profile publicity recently.

ProcessGuard was a pain in combination with FDISR and I don't like security softwares with multiple choice questions, too dangerous for me, can't give the correct answer, don't see the difference between good and bad, unless the malware calls itself malware.exe or virus.exe or trojan.exe. I only can survive with whitelists, like Anti-Executable and FDISR.

How about Aluria Anti-Spyware, or XoftSpy?
I use to use it before I came here to WSF.
Oh, and I think it's been a while since I heard about CounterSpy.
    I'm not so sure though.

Both have a dark past and were ever blacklisted. I still don't trust them.
XoftSpy even considers Windows objects as malware and that was too much for me.

One of the most user-friendly HIPS and way ahead of its time. PG free is still 100 % malware-proof working as an anti-executable.

I couldn't agree more, I paid for the full version and ran it for 2 years. I find upsetting the way it is currently offered, and the fact that if I wanted to reinstall it, I can't get my key from the members area.

I can't think of a more successful application than suddenly committed suicide. It doesn't make any 'commercial' sense to behave the way they did.

If I had been a resident in Australia I would have tried to get a refund, as a matter of principle.
