  1. Sorry but I'm going to have to call you out Webroot. Explain this to the people

Why is your product so bad in detecting malware? I don't think Webroot is a bad product but they really need to work on their detection rates. Their customer service is great on these forums but it doesn't make up for those results.

Our goal is 100% - I don't know what samples you're referring to, but take a look at the AV-Test results, which is definitely a very reputable firm: http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1[report_no]=122643

260,505 out of 260,505 is hard to argue with and indicative of our product not being bad at detecting malware.

  3. When PrevX SafeOnline becomes WSA, will there be a free version? (similar to the one announced for Facebook users).

Thanks, can you link to the actual discussion? I would have a look, but typically such tests are not comprehensive and don't implement the necessary controls.

I will PM you the link as it leads to downloads of malicious files.

Thanks, got it. I had a quick look at one thread and it didn't reveal anything about the testing methodology. You can't really say anything about the numbers without that.

There is no methodology; it's a folder with malicious .exe-files, which is right-clicked and scanned.

Well, I'd say very little methodology, but even this requires some explanation to be of any use. For instance where did the files comes from, how old were they, what OS was the test machine running? Was WSA configured with default settings, or something else? Professional tests lay all of this out.

Very good reasons why posting "home grown" malware testing is very much discouraged.
    Leave it to the professionals.

It's already documented here on Wilders that WSA's strength lies in detection upon execution as opposed to that method. That's not to say it shouldn't alert on scans such as this, but it works best when files are run in real-time so they can be journaled.

To me it's enough time to evaluate it. ;)

I would suggest using WSA with your current AV for extra protection. It is compatible with all major AV's, and works great as a layered security approach.

With respect my friend, that's only you. 30 days is a standard time period for evaluation.

But did have a free version. Anyways, the bonus nonsense is not an excuse given that Webroot claims WSA to be the best in all possible aspects and should be properly matched to it's competitors.

  24. i'll repeat it again... Why is Webroot so poor at detecting malware. I would like an honest answer.
