Hi. I have the lastest build for TI9. Usually performs well although previous builds seems to have a problem with my RAID setup.

Today I wanted to add an incremental backup to the SZone but while the software appeared to be working - CPU busy - TI showed no progress and remained on zero %. I cancelled the backup and examined the amount of space in SZone which was now about 83Mb's. From what I have read, TI automatically deletes an earlier incremental file to make way for the lastest if there is no more space. Is this so?

I ended up removing the SZone and setting it up again...seems to be working and the backup and archive check were both successful. I had been looking for how to delete various files in SZone and your help file regarding this does not work. So there doesn't appear to be a guide about how to delete files in the SZone.

Can we do this? If so how?

    thanks in advance

    Hello Mescott,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

I'm afraid that Acronis True Image 9.0 does not allow you to selectively delete images from Acronis Secure Zone. The free space in Acronis Secure Zone is managed automatically accroding to the rules described in section 3.2.3 of Acronis True Image 9.0 User's Guide.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.

Okay...I thought so. The problem seems then that SZ is not automatically deleting the earlier backup when its space if full. Another one of your respondents appear to be having a similar problem. As I understand it, SZ is supposed to delete the oldest incremental or differential backup when its space becomes full. Is this correct?

I had to delete the space and TI reincorporated into a chosed partition and then I created another SZ which I could then back up to.

Could you clarify whether SZ does indeed delete the oldest backup or is this build having some problems in regards to this?

    Hi Mescott,
Not quite correct. If there is not enough free space in the SZ to create a backup, it will delete the oldest full backup and all of its incrementals/differentials.
If you are creating a full backup and there is not enough space AND there is only one full/incremental/differential backup "set", it will delete all of that set to make room for the new full backup.
If you are trying to do an incremental or differential backup and there is only one full and subsequent incrementals/differentials, you will get an out of space error. If that happens, all you can do is either increase the size of the SZ, or create a new full backup instead of an incremental or differential.
It will never delete an incremental or differential without deleting everything else in that backup set.
