search, tried, and failed...cloned hd restarts pc right at windows xp loading screen

    fixntldr does not work..deleted all info in mounted devices key...that didnt work...guess im going to have a nice paperweight....original hd still works, just remove new one, plugged in old one, and boots perfectly...boot corrector after deleting keys didnt work...dont know whats up...

    I assume the new HD is plugged into the same SATA port that the old HD was previously using.
    Does the new HD boot into WinXP when you use "last known"?

    yes and yes...and as soon as it boots into xp it starts loading drivers again for the new hd

    Well, there are two things we do know. There is nothing wrong with your MBR or your OS drive letter otherwise you wouldn't be able to get into Windows.

    I suspect a bad HD. You have used two different imaging apps with basically the same result. The symptoms suggest OS corruption. The old HD is good so the image should be good. Can you borrow a HD for a test and restore your image to that HD? Does it boot OK?

    not really, i bought this new hd from newegg few months ago...1st time its been out of the bag
