It's possible that "spam" has more than just the most-commonly used meaning. But of course, people seem to know more about why Scroogle shut down than even the person who set it up.

BTW, the quote I provided has nothing to do with Google or Scroogle. It illustrates another usage and is relevant to the post immediately preceding. I don't think it should be removed for being OT.

Yes, it's just another name for Ixquick. There is also Starting Page, they are all just different names for Ixquick.

Eh, Duck is just fine as well. In fact I like it better. Not a huge loss, imho, and one less drama for people to take sides in.

 

I didn't use Scroogle very often, I just miss the fact that it's gone for ever. Maybe I just like the idea of the little bloke sticking *two fingers up at the big corporations (or 'a' corporation anyway). I think that I could be a bit of an anarchist deep down in this respect.

*An obscene gesture in the UK (sometimes known as a Harvey Smith) not dissimilar to 'flipping the bird' in the US, I believe.
