Trying out an install of arch with gnome 3 on my test box. Gnome performs admirably on Arch even with the old nvidia 6200 (with nvidia driver) that's in this machine. It's surprisingly good and quick. I'm starting to get used to the shell now and it's becoming quite a natural way of working to me. I never used virtual desktops to any great extent before but in gnome 3 it feels quite natural. Gnome 3 isn't as bad as people might think, it just takes some getting used to.
