Hi folks, I am interested in getting a screen capture app and am asking what is considered a good one not too techie and well laid out. I see Snagit mentioned here from time to time and checked out their web site. It looked pretty good. What are the opinions of users, and is the learning curve not too steep?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a different app? This will be used for uploading screenshots to forums, e-mails, and some light off line work. I tried a freeware app called Screenshot Captor, but it's for power users and a little too techie for me. :)

been useing hoversnap for many years and found it is the simplest and easy to use there is. The snipping tool in Vista is surprisingly easy to use with several custom settings

The only one I recommend is FastStone Capture. As already mentioned, version 5.3 was the last free one, and safe downloads of 5.3 can still be found around the web.

But I use and greatly prefer the paid version (currently at version 6.3) It works great! Much easier to deal with (IMO) than SnagIt... http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm

FastStone Capture is my favorite as well. If your needs are basic, it doesn't stand in the way and it's easy to use. Some more advanced features are there if you want them.

Snagit is good too (maybe better idk), but paid.

If you're willing to spend the money then SnagIt. I've used it professionally for years because it is the best.

I've been using ScreenShotCaptor for years and I've never had any problems with it at all. It's done everything I've ever needed it to do.

I'm using SnagIt at home and at work.
Couldn't do without, although FastStone Capture is a good alternative.
So many to be found, but it all depends on what you want to do with it. :)

Far as I know, this link still works and should be all you need: http://www.oldapps.com/SnagIT.php I have the latest version and this and find I use this easier to use. Another vote for Hoversnap, not sure about Vista for either though.

I see that link sorta worked, it's for version 7.25 and is a free fully registered version, not a trial and 100% legal. I think this is the key that link should show YW6RC-4YMK6-SZBBD-C2MCW-Q9D96 I'll have to try that link again out of curiosity, it's to a thread here and lead's to the one I see: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=176701

Yes, it is a fully fonctional registered version. This version of SnaGit, if a bit old, is a very well implemented and easy to use, with plenty of useful fonctions.

Snag-It is the way to go when it comes to screen capturing applications.
