Is it possible to setup acronis to do the following:

Automated, once a month, full system backup followed by a weekly incremental.

At the moment, I have a scheduled a weekly incremental backup and I manually do a full backup every now and then after moving the old backups into a different folder.

I am using the workstation version of acronis.

Yes. you need two schedules. One for incremental, one for full, both specifying the same tib file name.

Whenever the monthly runs, it just means that an existing incrementals are orphaned. These get overwritten one by one as the incrementals get produced.

    Hi,

Just seeking some clarification on these schedules, I have the following schedules setup:

    First Schedule
    ---------------
MONTHLY FULL BACKUP - Name: MyBackupMonthly (first Mon of each month)

    Second Schedule
    -----------------
WEEKLY INCREMENTAL - Name: MyBackupWeeklyInc (M,T,W,T,F)

With the above, will this give me a decent fall back??

Also, will the Monthly overwrite the existing monthly??

What is the easiest setup so that I can get it to overwrite the Incremental files or am I going to have to do this manually.

    Thanks

    Graeme

    Hi
Personally I would execute a weekly Full backup - say on Sunday and schedule incrementals on Monday to Saturday. Yes, each subsequent scheduled backup will overwrite the previous week's backup so you will only ever have seven backup files.

    gtechtwo,
An INC backup up must have the same name as the FULL you want to append to.
That is NOT the case you described.
If there is no FULL with the name used in the INC, your first INC will create a FULL image.
