    ESS4 no personal firewall

I upgraded from Smart Security 3 to 4.0.417 and there is no personal firewall. NO in the menus or setup or anywhere. I've seen from screenshots in help that it is supposed to be there. Anyone know about this?

Are you positive that you didn't download just the AV in error, the file names are similar?

What happens if you uninstall and try again?

I am positive that I have Smart Security 4 installed. I did the uninstall and reinstall. It did not help. Here is a picture

Do you already have another Firewall installed?

Or I should have asked, did you disable Vista's Firewall prior to installing ESS?

It was enabled and disabling it doesn't do anything. It was enabled with V3 and that worked fine. Perhaps a bug?

From that thread it looks like I shouldn't be bothered by this :)

I think what I was getting at was that you probably need to disable Vista's Firewall BEFORE you install ESET Smart Security. If Vista's Firewall is active then it might be preventing the installation of another Firewall.

Having Windows firewall disabled had no affect. My installer was created 9/6/2008. Seems old, though I got it off eset's website. I think it's the date from V3 since the file was only overwritten.

Okay. I was just guessing. I've got another tennant with a laptop running Vista Home Premium. Before I installed ESS 4.0 I disabled the Vista Firewall and he has the ESS Firewall showing up in the Interface/Protection Status. Thought there might be some substance in what I said.

    Hello,

ESET Smart Security v4.0.424.0 is now available.

I would suggest that you try the following:
    • Download ESET Smart Security v4.0.424.0 from ESET's web site using your username and password credentials.
    • Save or print a copy of ESET knowledgebase article #2116, "How do I uninstall or re-install ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus? (4.0)".
    • Uninstall the currently-installed copy of ESET Smart Security.
    • Follow the instructions in the KB article to remove any objects left over after the uninstall.
    • Install ESET Smart Security v4.0.424.0.
This should allow the ESET Personal Firewall module to re-appear in your copy of the software.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky
