I have just upgraded Sandboxie to version 5.55.20, 64 bit, classic. I am trying to save a PDF document from my Sandboxie Firefox browser and the dialogue box that appears when I select “Save As” is blank except for the word PDF at the top. I use Adobe Professional DC, which I have employed through multiple versions of Sandboxie. I'm on Windows 10.

I'm wondering if there’s a missing setting in SB.

    What am I missing? Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "compatible template" but it's always worked as long as I've owned SB, which is many years. If I try to save a displayed PDF from a website, the "Save As" dialogue box is blank.....

Yes, Adobe is compatible with everything including SB unless something has changed.

As you can see, Adobe Acrobat is in the list of applications:

Maybe, Add + Apply -> Adobe Acrobat/Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Sorry, I do not have Adobe Professional DC to test.

Do I highlight it or put a plus sign there? And the list has AA version 8 or 9 which is at least close to DC (and maybe the same thing). Reader is a much different product. Would it be "highlight, plus sign (which has a "-" in it that I can't change, as you'll note from the image) and then apply? Why does it have a minus sign? The info message says (when I attempt to make it a plus sign) that it already applies to all Sandboxes.

Add + Apply...as a test. Just a test. IDK if it'll fix your issue.
    After test. Remove + Apply.

I run SumatraPDF and built-in pdf readers.
Does Firefox built-in reader render Save As dialog?
Does Adobe Professional DC render Save As dialog outside sbox?
Note: Firefox built-in reader renders Save As dialog...for me.

The minus means you have the template (already) set to be applied globally (all sandboxes). To disable this template from being applied globally, navigate to:

    Configure>Software compatibility

If you untick the compatibility setting there (the minus will go away), and afterward you apply the same compatibility setting in Sandbox settings, you ll see the plus sign. In other words, a plus sign in a sandbox setting, means the setting is applied to an individual sandbox. The minus sign means, the setting is applied globally.

In your case, switching the setting from minus to plus shouldn't make any difference as the compatibility setting itself is the same either way.

Perhaps you can try disabling Protected mode or whatever is called in Adobe. Or anything that sort of gives a sandboxing effect in Adobe.

Yes, it makes sense that the Adobe template is already set globally. I’ve been using this for years without a problem until now. I definitely don’t want to disable it.

I put a plus sign in the other two Adobe boxes and it doesn’t make a difference. Nothing I can see in my Adobe Professional settings indicates any sort of protective mode. There is no sandboxing there either that I'm aware of. Can you be more specific about what protective mode would be called in Adobe settings?

    Thx

Oh, thank you. I do see it. Protected View was already set to "Off" and I turned off Enhanced Security. Sadly, no effect. I tried turning both on and then off. No luck.

bjm: soooo, this is a problem with this release of SB? I'm not sure what templates are or box type or application compartment...

Templates are for compatibility. Templates may not help compatibility. Templates may be old.
Box Type Presets is Plus feature (supporter certificate).

Did Save As work okay with your 5.55.19?

Yes, the Save As has always worked. I had a version before 5.55.19. I've never seen this type of error before. I have SB Plus.

Sooo I'm guessing since this problem was reproducible that it's something the developer needs to know about. How do we let him know so we can get this addressed?

I'll repeat my answer here: I upgraded from a version prior to 5.55.19. I don't remember what it was. Folks helping here were able to reproduce the problem themselves.
