This build introduces a couple of quality of life improvements,
    • the ability to suppress notification when gaming
    • a global setting to add run entries to all boxes
    • an option to select a custom icon for the sandbox added to the color slider in the box options
It fixed 12 issues and introduces a new update mechanism which allows to update individual files.

On the "Support Tab" in the "Global Options" the user can now choose from the following release channels:

    1. Stable - GitHub Releases
    2. Preview - GitHub Pre-Releases
There the user can also select how to behave when a "New Version" (where an installer is available) or a "Version Update" (where only individual files of the existing installation will be updated) is found.
For a "New Version" the following options are available: Notify, Download & Notify, Download & Install
For a "Version Update" the following options are available: Ignore, Notify, Download & Notify, Download & Install
There is no "Ignore" option for "New Version" as that is covered by disabling check for updates.

In the "Stable" channel check for "Version Update" is only available to supporters with a valid certificate. In this channel all updates are signed and consists of the latest compatibility templates and urgent bug-fixes and translations.

In the "Preview" channel the "Version Update" consist of unsigned test builds (except the signed driver) released every few days (like for example 1.6.0,1.6.1a and 1.6.1b) as here the updates contain not only half tested fixes but also new functionality which may not yet be free of bugs.

Furthermore installers have been updated with the ability to download the latest Templates.ini and translations when installing.

    Installed Plus over the top.
All seems okay so far using Vivaldi and Edge.

No problems updating/upgrading Sandboxie Plus to v1.6.2 (with Firefox 108.0.1).

there seams to be a bug when using the vintage mode that prevents start of the UI, there is a hotfix for that,
you can install it by running "UpdUtil.exe update sandboxie-plus /channel:stable" from an elevated command prompt in the installation directory

Yes, it updated via the UI just fine but the end result was having to re-configure the Default box for Firefox plus apply the Hardened box settings as everything had gone back to defaults. I went back to 1.6.2 (no "a") and had to re-configure the Default box yet again. Thankfully, my certificate was still applied.

    @plat See my post.
If you remove/rename Sandboxie.ini and Sandboxie-Plus.ini from %ProgramFiles%\Sandboxie-Plus folder, it will use your old configuration again. (from Windows\Sandboxie.ini etc.)

Perhaps it means if you have selected in Options.. Global Settings...Support ....your update prefs ?
But yes, it is a bit confusing.
Also if I select the 1.6 2a link shown in the screenshot it opens in an unsandboxed window.

Thanks... how I wish it was either checked or unchecked and not a black square :( (yes I know it's been discussed before)
I'm sure at one point I was asked if I'd like to open a UI link sandboxed when I clicked on it.

to 1.6.2 you can just run the installer from github
to install the 1.6.2a update you can run "UpdUtil.exe update sandboxie-plus /channel:stable" from an elevated command prompt in the installation directory

Sorry, 1.6.2 installer does not work for me.
    png_16188.png
from 1.6.1 or from failed 1.6.2?
tried from 1.6.1 - nothing happens?
    ---------------
Edit: changed 1.6.1 to Advanced View > ran 1.6.2 installer okay > changed 1.6.2 Advanced View to Vintage View okay.

yes 1.6.2 has a bug with the vintage mode, you need to update to 1.6.2a which you can get using the updater tool

    1. Make sure SandMan.exe (Sandboxie-Plus GUI) is not running.
    2. Run CMD.exe as administrator. (or Ctrl+Shift click on the CMD.exe from the taskbar or the start menu)
    3. Enter the following command to the CMD.
    Code:
    "%ProgramFiles%\Sandboxie-Plus\UpdUtil.exe" update sandboxie-plus /channel:stable

The commands 'install' and 'update' download exactly the same files into each folder.
    Code:
    ...UpdUtil.exe install sandboxie-plus /channel:stable /path:D:\SB_Install
    ...UpdUtil.exe update sandboxie-plus /channel:stable /path:D:\SB_Update

Is there supposed to be any difference between 'install' or 'update'?

yes in the end the tool always just checks which files are missing in the pointed to folder and downloads all changes.
I should add a check for the "update" switch to return the error if not pointed to an existing installation.
