    Is this a bug?

    This is the current config of a box in the ini file:
    Code:
    Enabled=y
    BlockNetworkFiles=y
    BorderColor=#02f6f6,on,5
    Template=OpenBluetooth
    Template=SkipHook
    Template=FileCopy
    Template=qWave
    Template=BlockPorts
    Template=LingerPrograms
    Template=AutoRecoverIgnore
    ConfigLevel=9
    AutoRecover=n
    AutoDelete=y
    BoxNameTitle=n
    ShowForRunIn=y
    CopyLimitKb=-1
    UseSecurityMode=n
    ClosedFilePath=<BlockNetDevices>,InternetAccessDevices
    OpenFilePath=%Desktop%
    ClosedFilePath=D:\Desktop\mmmmm
    ClosedFilePath=D:\Desktop\nnnnn
    ClosedFilePath=G:
    ClosedFilePath=H:
    OpenFilePath=E:\*

    Next after installing sbie 1.6.1 and just for testing purposes, in the GUI I unticked "Show this box in the 'run in box' selection prompt".
    Then SandMan moved three lines at the bottom.
    Also UseSecurityMode=n just disappeared
    Code:
    Enabled=y
    BorderColor=#00ffff,on,5
    Template=OpenBluetooth
    Template=SkipHook
    Template=FileCopy
    Template=qWave
    Template=BlockPorts
    Template=LingerPrograms
    Template=AutoRecoverIgnore
    ConfigLevel=9
    AutoRecover=n
    BoxNameTitle=n
    CopyLimitKb=-1
    ClosedFilePath=<BlockNetDevices>,InternetAccessDevices
    OpenFilePath=%Desktop%
    ClosedFilePath=D:\Desktop\mmmmm
    ClosedFilePath=D:\Desktop\nnnnn
    ClosedFilePath=G:
    ClosedFilePath=H:
    OpenFilePath=E:\*
    ShowForRunIn=n
    BlockNetworkFiles=y
    AutoDelete=y

    The plus installer will check and update if the check box was ticked, with no further notice, the classic installer to keep things simple always checks and if found something offers to install the update.

    EDIT: should i make the classic installer behavior the default also for the plus one?

    I've updated but the update banner in SB+ still shows, and when I click on it it goes through the update process again, but still the banner. Loop. Haven't rebooted yet.

    Is there a possibility of also providing a direct link with downloadable assets
    (as done for stable and pre-release versions?

    The hole idea of live updates is not to do that to be able to push a single changes file and don't have re upload everything.

    That said you can use UpdUtil.exe to download a full build:
    UpdUtil.exe install sandboxie-plus /channel:preview /path:[existing_(empty)_folder_to_install_to]

    Is the path format something like ".\mydir" or "..\mydir" or "d:\mydir"

    Yes, and I've uninstalled (keeping my settings, and in the program folder afterwards uninstall there was only certificate.dat) and reinstalled from downloaded exe, and now after clicking on the red banner I get

    Screenshot 2022-12-07 142539.png

    but nothing happens when I click yes. I searched for a rogue copy of 1.6.1 on my c: drive but found nothing.

    I suppose I could bite the bullet and uninstall completely.

    I got a pup-up with "Error Status 0xc0000022 (Access is denied)" on restarting portable mode after using UpdUtil.exe to download to a temp directory then copying into the portable install directory. The portable mode was properly shutdown with the driver uninstalled and service stopped before copying.
    Things seem fine after clicking OK to close the pup-up

    Tried this command:
    Code:
    UpdUtil.exe install sandboxie-plus /channel:preview /path: D:\Preview

    This is what happens
    Code:
    :
    Downloading
    Applying updates
    Installing MiscHelpers.dll ... FAILED
    Installing: QSbieAPI.dll ... FAILED
    Installing: Sandman.exe ... FAILED

    The directory D:\Preview is empty before and after!
    Any suggestions? Is there a way to download these directly?

    All works well. But, an updated UpdUtil.exe (if exists) is not included in the downloaded files. Should it be?

    In future yes, but currently its missing a mechanism to update itself, so for now i opted to just don't put it on the update server
