Not sure if I understand your question. I used Chrome on the older version of Sandboxie, 3 or so years ago, with no workarounds and no blank screen.

The blank screen I was talking about occurred trying to use the newest plus version.

I don't know what you mean by "workarounds." I've used SBIE Classic just fine with firefox and Vivaldi, and now I use SBIE Plus just fine with firefox and Vivaldi. No "workarounds needed".

So you were not using sandboxie for the last 3 or so years at all?

On a side note: in my own perception the SandMan UI is very much SbieCtrl inspired and i would have thought that whom ever finds their way around the classic ui it will also feal familiar with the plus ui. Apparently it is not so.
Hence may I inquire which differences between plus and classic make it most difficult to navigate the new UI?

From what people have said to me David, it starts with the fact that at install Classic puts the default browser icon on the desktop so you are ready to go.
Plus doesn't. The user has to figure it out.

I don't know what other folk think. I am just trying to suggest the simple things to make Plus easy for a new user.

In Plus it is not obvious that you have to right-click on the default box in the Plus window in order to get to the options (recovery etc)
In Classic it is easy to find the options along the bar at the top of the Classic window..

    Hi,

I am using Sandboxie 1.0.3 . I cannot Force Chrome 96.0.4664.110 to start in a sandbox. Chrome is in Forced Programs. Box type is Security Hardened Sandbox. No Chrome folder appears in the Sandbox folder. I have to do Sandboxie Plus > Chrome sandbox > Run > Default web browser to get the yellow border to appear and for the Sandbox folder to get created.

I also have Hitmanpro Alert if that matters.
I also have OSArmor if that matters. But I have tried turning protections to off with no difference.

Same thing with Firefox 95.0, I use a dedicated Firefox sandbox. I have placed it in Forced Programs. And no yellow border appears when I run Firefox. No Firefox folder appears inside the Sandbox folder.

I am not sweating it yet, as I just read this: https://madaidans-insecurities.github.io/firefox-chromium.html explaining how Firefox is not as secure as Chromium.

@lunarlander that is strange, do you have sandman open?
Note: that the yellow border is generated by sandman.exe so when the UI is not active there will be no visible border.
When you start firefox.exe is is not listed in the sandman UI?

    Hi DavidXanatos,
Yes, I have Sandman running in the systray.
At the Sandman systray icon, I have made a Sandbox named Firefox. But no Sandman doesn't show any Firefox icon. In the Sandman UI, no Firefox.exe is shown.

I am running Windows 11 Pro.

lol, just forget this crap. Dont you think, mozilla is aware of its code and its concerned security? that content is from june 2021 and firefox concerned rather old and not up-to-date. to bash firefox there is more to need! in fact firefox is in parts more secure as chromium derivates - it has fission, it has its own cert storage which is secure against attacks, it now has RLbox.

Firefox works fine with SandMan+ IME - problems seem mainly related to extensions and the fact that I have Firefox "tied down" quite a lot.

I still can't run Thunderbird sandboxed, but as David fixed Office/Excel I'm happy enough. I haven't used Sbie for quite a while now as I want to stay with what I perceive will be the future of Sandboxie, but I'm pretty sure the current build of Sbie would be more than adequate for my needs.

Maybe what is missing is instruction guides/videos - and no, I'm not volunteering ;)

I've carried my old sandboxes over unaltered, so I'm probably missing a whole load of settings I could take advantage of, but if it ain't broke...

@Brummelchen: But fission is beta code, it is only available in nightly builds.
