I use quite a few sandboxes which are saved to an external drive (most are persistent, eg not deleted at the end of each session) along with the program folders (saved outside of the sandbox; but still protected while running in a sandbox) [part of why I'm so set on prevention rather than relying 'just' on the awesome containment SBIE has!] because I tend to install a new build of Windows often [I am constantly trying to trim my windows with NTLite (along with a bit of extra manual work) and doing a clean install with my latest build...maybe once a month...]

With this setup all I need to do is restore the sandboxie.ini before 'installing' sandboxie on the new build and a majority of the non-security\system apps are immediately available via the saved shortcuts [along with the forced program rules contained within the sandboxie.ini] I also keep a copy of.

None of my sandboxes actually have the program folders "inside" a sandbox but all the settings and prefs are saved there along with a 7z backup/copy of the original (clean) install sandbox state should I find myself wanting/needing to restore it I can delete and extract the saved files. Only a few have direct access to the folders they exist in, mainly games. Setting things up that way wasn't easy (especially for games, I had to add things like DX, PhysX, C++, updates, etc to the base image [the one I work on and maintain in a VM] by using sysprep but once it was done, it works in most cases.)

No! :( Plus the fact it is not ready for Windows 10!:'(

Would would be nice if Invincea would offer individuals
    Lic.,Key . Or a combination at a much
comparatively inexpensive price. Making it backup on the
    volume side!

Doubt if it will ever happen. They price it that way to discourage individuals. Support costs would eat them up

Not sure if FF 43.0.2 is the latest release, but I have had some issues with your mentioned combo for the past week or two. I managed (for my setup), to figure out that including all IDM running files in MBAE caused corruption of its integration module. I think the executable is called "IDMIntegrator64". I would be forced to reinstall to rectify the issue. It wouldn't rectify till I removed said file from MBAE; just to cover bases, I removed "idmBroker" from MBAE and cancelled use of "IEMonitor" since I do not use IE anymore.

Not sure if that is of any help, as I don't know if you use MBAE or not. But yeah... haven't used SBIE since I won a licence for MBAE.

    Hello Wilders,
Launch'd Installer in no-restriction w Admin testbox. Installer wanted to install what looked like Service.
I blocked service.exe via ERP and Installer progressed okay.
Curious, what does Sandboxie do with Service.
I mean, had I not blocked service.exe would Service install outside text box...?
    Thanks

    Hello Wilders,
    1) Is there a way to force pics for example saved from email into native photo viewer e.g., Windows Photo Viewer, HP Connected Photo, WMP
I get message "app manager" needs to run.
    2) Is there a way to force pdf for example saved from email into native pdf Reader e.g., W8.1 Reader
Can I setup forced Windows Apps testbox so, item needing app manager runs.
Background: I have discrete forced WMP sandbox for optical media. When I open pics/jpgs from email attach in Firefox sandbox. I can view in WMP but not my forced WMP sandbox.
So, wondering how to force pics and pdfs attach into discrete sandbox.
    Thanks

Sandboxie doesn't allow drivers or services to be installed when you run an installer in a sandbox.

If you run your email in your Firefox sandbox, attachments in mails will run in your Firefox sandbox. If you recover the attachment to your hard drive, then it will run in your dedicated sandbox when you open the pic or PDF.

bjm, in the past, I don't recall you not being able to run pictures or PDF sandboxed, if you were able to do that before, then perhaps an update in one of your other security programs is interfering with SBIE. Or, it could be that you changed settings in another program with the result that you cant run PDF or pictures in a sandbox anymore.

I just opened a picture with sandboxed WMP, that works fine, you should be able to do that as well. If a program don't display Window title, you wont see the hash mark when running the program sandboxed. The colored border shows regardless, even when the program don't have Window title bar, you can use that instead of the hash # mark if you require a sign confirming you are running sandboxed to show up 100% of the time.

bjm, Windows photo viewer is not a program you can force. That viewer is like part of Windows so you can not force it but if it is your default picture viewer, you should still be able to run pictures sandboxed when you right click them.

You could also switch your default picture viewer to something else, then force that program.

I don't use it but I believe that's a very good choice that works great with SBIE. I use Windows own viewer for pictures. To run pictures sandboxed, I always use a sandboxed Windows explorer for navigating to them. As I click on the pictures, they run in my dedicated Windows explorer sandbox.

Well, for pics I have OEM ...Photos, Windows Photo Viewer, HP Connected Photo and WMP.
I prefer WPV but silly me .... I've been looking for WPV thinking. I'll force WPV. Silly me.
Yes, I can view email attach pics with WMP once added to Firefox sandbox. Or, save pics and Run Sandboxed > WMP sandbox.
Yes, I can switch default but, I'm trying to force built-in windows apps and can't find em'. D'oh!
Similar to pdf's. I have built-in Windows "Reader"....and don't find how to force.
So, after banging my head...ouch, if I follow Bo and Mister X. I'll need third party program to force pdf's and pics. Hmmm.
So, "Windows Apps" are not force-able. Head slap.
and banging my head ....with sandbox'd Documents folder n' sandbox'd Pictures folder
Sandboxie app manager.png Sandboxie app manager documents.png
and in Firefox sandbox. When I Preview in Firefox pdf and Windows "Reader" opens. Reader is not sandbox'd...?
So, I'll need third party...? I think I toggled Firefox native reader in about:config at some point. Is Firefox "reader" okay.
Maybe, it was Firefox built-in PDF Viewer or PDF Viewer extension....

Hmm, then I'll have to head scratch .... re: sandbox'd Documents folder n' sandbox'd Pictures folder invokes "app manager is required".

Windows picture viewer runs using rundll, you cant force it.
I am not familiar with Windows own PDF reader, but if it doesn't use its own exe to run, then you cant force it.
They are forceable if like WMP, it runs using its own exe (wmplayer.exe), otherwise, they can not be forced.
