Is there a way to add more passes with RMDIR, like with SDelete?
I don't think so. Read link below.
You are welcome, Infected.
When I try to use multiple passes with SDelete, it takes a very long time to delete, like it's hanging up. I haven't tried with the newest version. I"ll give it a quick go.
Just tried SDelete again and it's working fine with 3 passes. That's good, I prefer SDelete.
Thank you for your answer.
I've never had any issues setting up Eraser with Sandboxie on any other computers with various Windows OS's.
Thanks, but with older versions I didn't have this problem. I also noticed that Firefox started to crash frequently, so I downgraded once again. There is definitely something wrong with v5, at least on my system.
Rasheed, its not likely the SBIE version has anything to do with a particular program not terminating in the sandbox, anyway, the Leader and Lingering programs setting are available to solve what you are experiencing. Its not abnormal having to use this settings sometimes.
I have used this setting for two specific cases, both times in XP. In W7, I never have had to set any program as the Leader or add anything to Lingering programs. Anyway, one of the cases in XP where I used the setting was for my Outlook express sandbox. I don't use OE anymore but when I did, I added firefox.exe as a lingering program, otherwise my OE sandbox would not delete (sometimes) automatically some of the time when I ran Firefox in that sandbox. In XP, I have wmp.exe set as Leader program in the WMP sandbox. That took care of that sandbox not deleting automatically when closing WMP.
The problem with Firefox is not Sandboxie. In Firefox 41.0.1, under fixes, you can read "Fix potential hangs with Flash plugins"...in my opinion, that problem is not fixed yet. To workaround that issue, for now, I suggest you disable Flash protected mode. For testing, you can do it under SBIE, go to about:addons>Plugins, in Flash Options you ll see the option to untick PM.
I am 99% sure doing this will solve your Firefox problem. How do I know? I don't use Flash in my W7 but I use Flash everyday in my XP. When version 41 came out, I started experiencing crashes related to flash in the XP. If I disable plugin container in the XP, crashes don't happen. If I re-enable plugin container, crashes come back.
Hi Zmechy. I am not familiar with Eraser so I cant help much on this. But I suggest you read the SBIE thread I posted earlier, according to the guys who posted in that thread, something changed in Eraser and you have to make adjustments in how to set things up in order for Eraser to work with SBIE. Read Guest10s posts, you ll find the solution in what he writes.
Bo, thanks for your respond.
Now after updating from Windows 7 to Windows 10, suddenly I cannot start any Sandboxed browser.
I get the following message:
I've just downloaded the latest Sandboxie version from their web-site.
Latest version of latest beta?
I'm using Eraser 5.3 set for 3 pass deletion which I have been using for a few years now and it works well.
I think that (SBIE message 2224) looks like a conflict with your antivirus. Kaspersky? BitDefender?..See if excluding sandboxieDcomlaunch.exe from being scanned by the AV solves the issue. Or, uninstall the AV.
You are so right. I truly believe that my Sandboxie problem was cause by Bitdefender.
After I upgraded my computer to Windows 10, temporary my Bitdefender icon disappeared. I've checked with Bitdefender about it. They said, "Don't worry, within 3- 4 hours, you'll get a message to update and re-install your Bitdefender."
During that time, my Sandboxie was working just fine, but...
After I've re-installed Bitdefender, I immediately encountered that 2224 problem.
I've just followed your advice, and it worked.
Thank you so much.
Do the latest versions of SBIE and Webroot Secure Anywhere run ok together? Known issues link at SBIE don't mention WSA. Just Webroot Antispyware Corporate.
SBIE v5.05.1 + WSA Antivirus v126.96.36.199 okay on my box. YMMV
To clarify, the problem is solved when I downgrade to SBIE v4, and I'm still using an older version of FF. I did upgrade to Flash 19. So the problem must be with SBIE v5. Firefox doesn't run stable, same goes for PDF-XChange Viewer.
Rasheed, hopefully you tried solving "programs not terminating" by setting programs as Leader in their dedicated sandbox when they dont terminate automatically as you close them, you dont say if you tried that. I believe you are using W8.1, if that's the case, Firefox should feel stable for you. Up to W8.1, for most people running Firefox sandboxed that is the case.
Since Firefox feels messy in your system and is the same for PDF Xchange and you have programs that dont terminate when you close sandboxed programs, perhaps your AV or another security program you are using is not allowing sandboxed programs to terminate correctly or work smoothly. Sometimes that's what happens and the solution lays in figuring out which program is conflicting with SBIE.

Also, working well! But my browser are UC Browser and Opera at this point in time.
Can you keep us updated? Especially the different browsers and AV's being used with
Waiting on this link to be updated.
Moose, a simple rule about Sandboxie and antiviruses. The simpler the AV, the better chances it will work well with SBIE. Avoiding toolbars and extras increases the chances the AV and SBIE will get along.
Browsers? The major browsers are the ones that Invincea tests with SBIE. And again, avoiding toolbars and using too many addons helps to keep sandboxed browsers from conflicting with SBIE.
I have tried those settings, but it didn't solve the stability problems. Like I said, the problem is within SBIE v5, because v4 works just fine. I'm only using EXE Radar together with SBIE, and it's unlikely that ERP is the problem. This kinda stuff is the reason why I often don't even upgrade to newer versions, they may introduce new problems.
More than the basic browsers and an alternative with quick fixes. You may look into the link below:
Hope this help you out!
Making today great and tomorrow evening better.
To clarify, I'm not unhappy with SBIE, it's simply the best sandbox out there. Shade needs quite a lot of work to be able to compete, that's my impression.
After updating Windows 7 x64 and Chrome x64 I have problem running it sandboxed. I've reported it on SBIE forum - just in case somebody else gets similar problem.
